Women's Center

Community Memorial was among the leaders in what seemed like a radical change in maternity departments. For the better part of two decades, the hospital has favored a family-oriented approach to birth rather than the factory-like atmosphere prevalent in some institutions. Today, with an expanded family waiting area and newly created private rooms, the philosophy flourishes.

Families are able to enter the Community Memorial Women's Center under a private hotel-style canopy. Inside they find a lounge with a cathedral ceiling, fireplace and entertainment center.

Most importantly, the Maternity Department has been expanded to include four labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum (LDRP) rooms. Each is an extra large, beautifully appointed room where a mother is able to spend her entire visit. The rooms each have a whirlpool tub, and there is even an extra bed where fathers can get comfortable.

The Women's Center is part of Community Memorial's comprehensive health care program for women that includes mammography, bone densitometry and modern ultrasound treatment and diagnostic capabilities.
