Physical Therapy

The Physical Therapy Department at Community Memorial Hospital offers a full range of services for inpatients, outpatients and residents of the Skilled Nursing Facility, as well as rehabilitation. The staff is patient-oriented and places an emphasis on creating individualized programs. Working one on one, the staff devotes the time to establish relationships crucial to achieving positive outcomes. Community Memorial Hospital's commitment to genuine care is certainly part of Physical Therapy's approach.

In addition to traditional therapies, the staff provides rehabilitation for post operative patients and sports and occupational injuries, wound care with electronic stimulation and craniosacral therapy. CST is a light touch treatment that encourages the body's natural healing mechanisms to improve the capability of the central nervous system and is effective for headaches, scoliosis, neck strain and low back pain.

The atmosphere in the Physical Therapy Department is relaxed and everyone is quick to be encouraging. "You're doing great," is heard over and over. The entire staff is involved in custom tailoring programs to a patient's age and ability and there is a lot of hands-on care incorporated into the treatment plan.

Education is an important factor in the department's high success rate and there is an effort to ensure patients understand their problem and what they can do to help themselves recover and prevent re-injury. The staff also values the importance of continuing education and lifelong learning.

The Physical Therapy Department of Community Memorial Hospital treats the whole person, not just a diagnosis, and there is concern with psychological needs as well as physical challenges. The staff delves into more than what hurts and works hard to provide a welcoming, supportive atmosphere.
