Dr. Armand Hoch Recognized at Community Memorial Hospital

Community Memorial Hospital will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding in 2012. One of the highlights will be the recognition of the seven founding physicians that served the hospital at its opening in 1952. There were six general practitioners from the region: Dr. Carl Ellsworth of Waterville, Dr. Willis Hammond of Earlville, Dr. Armand Hoch of Oriskany Falls, Dr. Frank Matthias of Morrisville, Dr. John Rathbone of Hamilton and Dr. Jack Thro of Hamilton. In addition, there was one general surgeon, Dr. George Gillmore, who resided in Hamilton.

Throughout 2012, articles reflecting the lives and practices of these physicians will appear in the Community Memorial Hospital newsletters – “Update”. In addition, plaques for each physician are being prepared and will be hung in a prominent area located in the hospital. A dedication ceremony will be planned later in the year.

The first plaque completed was for Dr. Armand Hoch. In addition, Dr. Hoch's family members and friends contributed a substantial gift to the Community Memorial Hospital Foundation to establish The Armand H. Hoch Endowment Fund. The Hoch Fund will support clinical services at the hospital. Several members of Dr. Hoch’s family gathered at Community Memorial Hospital to view the plaque.
